The 1950s and 1960s are proudly termed as the golden era of India football and Kerala has achieved a remarkable share of victories to be a great contributor to the success. The year 1973, first bagged the Santosh Trophy for Kerala. TKS Mani and his hattrick deserve a great share of credit for this victory. 2017/2018 have also been etched in history for the last won Santosh Trophy for Kerala. Rahul V Raj was the skipper of the state team contesting for this trophy.
The Golden Era has also churned out 6 successful Olympians Thomas Varghese (Thiruvalla Pappan) PB Abdul Saleh (Kottayam Saleh) SS.Narayanan. T. Abdul Rahman, O.Chandra Shekaran, M.Devadas.

The Kasargod district in Kerala came into existence in 1984 and the following year its football association was formed. This achievement is attributed to the never-ending passion for the sport. The major teams such as those of Kannur district universities and the Kerala state and other Indian camps then had players from Kasargod district.
Some popular players include former captain from Farook college, Sayeed OT, an amazing coach from MG University TK, Ibrahim Kutty, Kerala Police and former Junior National Player MB. Muthalib, M.Damodharan., Coach and AFC “A�? license coach P.Kunhikrishnan and many others.
These passionate players held the Pride of Trikaripur along with other players such as M.Suresh (India 1999 – 2003 East Bengal 2003 – 2010) Muhammed Rafi (India 2010 -2012, SBT, MAHINDRA, CHURCHILL Indian Super League 2014 – 2017 ) Muhammed Aslam, TV Biju Kumar, T.Sajith, Muhammed Rasi, P.Jain ,M. Najesh, M.Sajesh, Praveen Kumar (All these players made remarkable contributions to Santosh Trophy)
Among these players were Muhammed Rafi and Biju Kumar who were the members of Kerala Santosh trophy team that emerged Winner in 2004 at Delhi.
With the goal of training budding football players and promoting football, the Trikaripur Football Academy ( TFA) was established in 2016 in Trikaripur. The main vision behind the idea is to take forward the legacy of the place that has contributed greatly to the football in Kerala and across India.
The people behind the academy are some of the best players from Kasargod District. These Trikaripur Stars include Mohamed Rafi, C. Dawood and NKP Abdul Azeez. With sponsorship from the Empire Hotels Group of Bangalore, the academy aims to bridge the gap between great talent and worthwhile training.
The main goal is to never let a talented footballer go untrained and to take India football, worldwide. The academy trains students in 4 age categories, Under 10, U12, U14 and U16. The number of trainees has been increasing every year and the infrastructure is being strengthened each year to offer the best in class facilities to nurture the talent.
